Empowering Families Through Collaboration and Advocacy

PPAC Training Overview

The Parents’ Advisory Committee (PPAC) Training is designed to create a strong and committed PPAC and enhance how agencies serve families with young children. The training will focus on the following key topics:

Training Topics

  1. Understanding the Role of the PPAC: Promoting family voice and advocating for families with young children.
  2. Listening & Sharing with Care: Learning to listen deeply to a family’s story and facilitating respectful collaboration across stakeholders.
  3. Goals & Communications: Setting goals, identifying best practices, and effectively communicating with families and state agencies.
  4. Facilitation & Mentoring: Developing facilitation skills to effectively engage with adults, children, and stakeholders.
  5. Advocating & Engaging: Identifying needs, advocating for policies, and engaging in collective initiatives to improve service delivery.

Training Methods

The training program includes lectures, interactive exercises, and group research projects. Participants will also receive individual coaching to help them continue developing and sustaining an effective PPAC.

Innovative Models

This training introduces innovative models that promote collaboration and inclusion, helping to bridge gaps and satisfy family needs. We encourage all PPAC members to participate fully.
